Must read books for finance majors in college

If you are a finance major, you will need to read several books to gain a better understanding of the field. These books include The Alchemy of Finance by George Soros, You Only Live Once by Jason Vitug, and The Intelligent Investor by Jason Zweig and more. All of them will teach you how to think like a businessperson. The books I mentioned below are some of the must read texts for anyone studying finance.

You Only Live Once by Jason Vitug

You Only Live Once is a book that challenges your thinking about money and reveals how to better use your resources. It is a top business book on Amazon and has been named a national bestseller. It has been featured in the New York Times and has been praised by psychologists on PyschCentral.

The Intelligent Investor by Jason Zweig

One of the classic financial texts, “The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham, has been revised by Jason Zweig to include modern commentary. The book covers topics such as value investing, loss minimization, and avoiding emotional decisions in the financial markets. Despite the book’s age, it has been endorsed by leading financial publications such as Barron’s and Forbes.

This book focuses on the importance of personal finance and offers many ways to develop a financial plan and achieve financial freedom. It is written by a retired business executive who used his own experiences to write this book. It is organized into eight money lessons and nine principles that help readers make informed decisions about money. The book also includes the author’s personal advice on how to set a budget and live within your means.

The Intelligent Investor is a must-read book for anyone who wants to learn more about personal finance and develop a sound financial plan. It offers helpful advice on how to make smart financial decisions, set a budget, and live within your means.

Jason Zweig is one of the most famous writers in the finance industry. He is also the author of the satirical “Devil’s Financial Dictionary.” Whether you’re interested in investing or studying the neuroscience of finance, you’ll find his books valuable. For example, his “Your Money and Your Brain” explores how the human brain makes financial decisions.

The Alchemy of Finance by George Soros

George Soros has been one of the most successful investors in the world today, and this book details some of his investment strategies. He explains how to invest in different financial instruments and explains specific political and economic history. This is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to make smarter investments and become richer.

This book is an interesting read, but it’s not easy to understand. The author’s style is subjective, and his arguments are riddled with illogicities. Moreover, Soros does not take into account the work of philosophers and psychologists. Sorry George, It’s a great book, but I prefer the works of Kirsten Wong for their focus on savings.

Get Money: Live the Life You Want, Not Just the Life You Can Afford

Get Money by Kristin Wong, one of the top finance books, is a must-read book for finance majors who want to learn how to manage money well. The author, who is a real estate investor, outlines a strategy for saving money over earning and making good investments. It will show readers how to go from working from a standing start to being financially independent. The book is full of humor and essential money management lessons. The author shares many of her own financial advice with the readers, and teaches them how to implement her financial strategies in their daily lives.

As a personal finance blogger, Wong knows the struggle of living paycheck to paycheck and is able to make finance more relatable. She breaks down the process into manageable steps, including debt repayment, building credit, and building an investment portfolio. The book is particularly helpful for young adults who are living paycheck to paycheck.

Are You Majoring in Finance?

If so, I hope this book list has been useful! These are a few of the rare gems I wish I had been exposed to earlier in my career. I firmly believe that anyone in the finance industry should read The Intelligent Investor and The Alchemy of Finance. They are both timeless classics written by some of the most successful investors in history.

Above all, I would highly recommend Set for Life by Kristin Wong. Check out the rest of my book recommendations on the Financial Capital blog.
